How do I set up a test plan with multiple test runs in Testomat.io?
Context
Section titled “Context”You want to create a test plan in Testomat.io similar to TestRail, with multiple test runs including manual and automated tests across different browsers.
Answer
Section titled “Answer”You can model this in Testomat.io using a test plan, run groups, and environment groups:
- Create a Test Plan: Define a test plan for the sprint containing the manual and automated test sets.
- Create a Mixed Run: Go to Runs → ˅ → Mixed Run and select the test plan. Mixed Runs support both manual and automated tests.
- Configure Browser Environments: Set up environments for Chrome, Edge, and Firefox.
- Create Separate Runs or Run Groups: For each test type, create separate runs or run groups, such as:
- Sprint 12 – Manual
- Sprint 12 – Automation
- Launch the Run: For manual execution, launch the run with the three browser environments. Testomat.io creates separate execution results per environment, and results are set independently for each browser.
- Update Manual Results: You can update results per test case manually; the execution flow supports setting results for each test with the configured environments.
For automation, execute the automated tests through your CI profile or CLI so their results are reported to the corresponding run.
